Hey there friends! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and I’m getting all of my sneak peeks up bit by bit! I’m finally realizing that, even though we are NOT having a traditional wedding in pretty much any way, it’s STILL taking up a lot of our time to try to get everything done in time! I seriously bow down to you brides who have a full on traditional wedding…I don’t know HOW you do it!!
Whew. Now that I got that out here are a few of my favorites from some of my mini sessions last weekend at the IMA 100 Acres Park. Don’t worry, I will get the rest of you up shortly!

Scott and I spent last Friday evening at the Mavris downtown for Julie and Chris’ wedding. We have a special little soft spot for these two and I’ll explain why. I found out when I first met Julie that Chris proposed to her at the Geist Half Marathon, a race that not only were we at but Scott actually won! Julie recognized Scott right away…of course who wouldn’t, he’s a pretty recognizable guy! We found out that not only is Chris a runner but he has his own chiropractic office and has a knack for helping out other runners. His practice, ProWellness Chiropractic, is a sponsor for the D.I.N.O. races so we often saw and heard his name within the trail running scene. This winter and spring, when Scott was not running due to an inexplicable injury, Chris went above and beyond to try to help Scott get back on his feet and running again. As we’ve had the opportunity to get to know these two over the past year we have found that Julie and Chris are two amazingly kind and generous people. Scott and I always talk about how much fun we have with clients when we feel a real connection with them. We can honestly say that we had a blast Friday night with Julie, Chris and the rest of the attendees at their wedding. Thanks so much you two for being a part of our lives this past year and for allowing us to be a part of yours! Oh, and we’ll be looking to cheer Chris on tomorrow morning at the downtown triathalon!! GO CHRIS!
By the way, a few things I have to say about the evening:
Julie…What can I say, you were an absolutely stunning bride! Thanks so much for making my job so easy!
Chris…Your overwhelming emotion and love for Julie was completely obvious throughout the day. You really brought tears to my eyes several times throughout the event! Your love is inspiring.
Katie…Amazing job on the girls, as always! You turn hair into a work of art!
Jenn…Wow! I really love working with you at weddings…let’s keep doing this! Your work is also amazing and it’s obvious you love what you do! Keep it up, girl!
Matt…What a great evening we had with you and a big thanks for the use of your video light! I’m now hooked! I hope to see you around at more events with us!
The Mavris…This is officially my favorite venue in Indy. If you haven’t been there…GO. There is no other downtown venue that surpasses the beauty of this place and the staff was outstanding!
venue :: mavris arts & events center
videographer :: matt kiefer
hair and makeup :: katie jones of savvy salon
florist :: jenn zawisza of jenn z designs
As always…please click on the smaller images to see them full size. There are plenty worth looking at!

Many of you know that Scott and I will be sealing the deal in September. Well, I have been working day in and day out getting things ready for the wedding and working with Vaike Haas on my custom wedding dress, which is going to be stunning! So while my attire for the day is taken care of NONE of the boys…not Scott, not Auggie and not Noah Sage have what they are going to wear on the wedding day! Scott is wearing running shoes, that’s about as far as we’ve got with him!
This brings me to Night Owl Baby. Today Noah Sage and I spent the day wandering around Broad Ripple enjoying each other’s company. After saying hello to all of our friends at Rusted Moon we started walking back towards the Monon Coffee Company to get our bike and head home. I have passed by Night Owl Baby on several occasions thinking that at some point I wanted to check it out and today we finally popped in. Night Owl Baby is a cute little boutique with a small selection of beautifully crafted children’s shirts and accessories. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the case under the counter which was home to bow ties and neck ties, all in different fabrics and patterns. Of course many of you who know us also know that two of Noah Sage’s favorite things are a)the color pink and b)anything with skulls on it. Imagine his sheer delight when we found a bow tie with brightly colored and patterned skulls all over it, some of which were pink! So…we are now building his wedding attire around a little bow tie that he insists he is going to wear EVERY day because it has all of his favorite things on it!
If you haven’t been to Night Owl Baby or gone to the website, take a moment to stop in and say hello. While there was plenty to choose from in stock they do create custom pieces based upon your specifications. I simply cannot wait to get my hands on one (or two!) of the Night Owl shirts!
Check them out here: NIGHT OWL BABY

Last year Scott & I had the pleasure of shooting Casey & Adam’s wedding in a tucked away little spot in Paoli, Indiana. When Casey’s sister and her long time boyfriend were recently engaged, I was excited to get the call to cover their wedding. Even though it was ridiculously hot and muggy that night I still had such a fantastic time shooting Paige & Dan’s engagement session last week. I can’t wait to shoot the wedding at what is now my favorite venue, The Mavris! Thanks to you two for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your engagement & wedding…I’m very much looking forward to plenty of fun together!

The month of July has been a busy month for our family. Along with trying to plan our wedding (6ish weeks away!!!), Scott and I have visited Auggie, backpacked in Pisgah, come home to pick up Noah Sage and then headed off to Ocean City for 10 days of family fun on the beach. I’m exhausted, I’m not going to lie. But it was worth it. We’ve had the opportunity to spend quality time with each of the boys and, just as important, with only each other. Life has been so incredibly busy lately that many days Scott & I kiss each other goodbye in the morning, kiss each other goodnight and there’s often little else between. It’s not for lack of wanting…sometimes it’s just life and we understand that. But an evening in Asheville followed by an overnight backpacking trip in the Mt. Mitchell area, then a long evening in Cape May New Jersey…well, those are the moments that make my heart happy. We get to hold hands, have adult conversations and just enjoy each other’s company…even if it’s in complete silence. In between all of that was just some good old fashioned family time, and lots of it.
Now, however, it’s crunch time again. Wedding planning, wedding shooting, family sessions, engagement sessions, business planning (yep…there’s news around the corner!)…it’s all sitting in my lap at once! So…for now enjoy our family pics from the past few weeks!
Oh, and don’t forget…this Sunday (July 25th) is my Summer Mini Sessions at the IMA 100 Acres Park! There are a few spots left open…book yours now if you haven’t already!!

Recently two wonderful women that I know both gave birth to healthy, beautiful baby boys. Born within days of each other, Jacob and Xavier are going to be two little guys who give me my baby fix for the next couple of years, just as Jacob’s big brother did! No, Scott and I are not having any more human children. We love them but we recognize our limitations, financially, physically and emotionally. That doesn’t mean that I don’t melt EVERY time I curl a little one up in my arms…it’s so true, I do! And rumour has it I’m pretty good with them, too! The added bonus: I get to give them back to their mama’s when they pee on me!

Due to the all of the awesome requests recently, I have carved out a date in my crazy summer schedule for a day of fun, fun mini sessions! Below you will find all of the details for the day except location. The location is yet to be determined, but I can promise you it will be somewhere between Broad Ripple and Downtown Indianapolis. I have a couple spots in mind, but I’m still scouting for a fun, new spot. If anyone has a suggestion for a new location, feel free to speak up!
As usual, these mini sessions are 30 minutes only, therefore it is imperative that you are on time, if not early, for your booked session. There are limited sessions available – twelve to be exact - so don’t wait to book as they fill up fast! Payment must be received for the session time to be held for your family.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing all of you next month!
